Colorado Concert Insider: I Love the Ting Tings

Finally: Spring in Colorado. Which means it's almost summertime in Colorado. Which means it's time for lots and lots of fabulous concerts to start populating each and every week on the Colorado concerts calendar. Now this week, we have something MUCHO exciting to kick off this new season in both weather and music. The Ting Tings take the stage Saturday night at the Ogden. Obvi I am going because I LOVELOVELOVE The Ting Tings. But also this weekend is a musical dance event called the Caffiene Music Festival at the 1stBank Center. it's supposed to be super amazing. They're running fifty artists on five stages - I'd say it's gonna be an event to rememebr. If I wasn't already going to see the Ting Tings, there's no way I'd miss out. Ahhh so happy that there are FINALLY some amazing music events going on around Denver!

Venue Time: The Ogden Theater

The Ogden Theater is another one of my favorite local hot spots for small concerts. It's probably the perfect location for an intimate show. Tons of great bands get booked there. And it's got a lot of history, which you should appreciate as a Coloradan. It's a little bit loud and the air circulation isn't alwasy as great on the floor as the balcony - which is why I generally opt for seats that are a little higher up. Another bonus of the upstairs: you have a little shelf to rest your purse. Or coat, Or whatever your little heart desires. Love it.

One Full Weekend of Miranda Lambert and Kelly Clarkson.

I don't know about you, but THIS concert fan is a huge country music fan. And I know that Kelly Clarkson doesn't just sing country, but she does sing a little. So this is making me uber excited for this weekend. Why, you ask? Well, because two of my favorite singers are going to be in town: Miranda Lambert AND Kelly Clarkson! They're both playing the 1stBank Center on Saturday and Sunday respectively, and I can't wait for either show. Saturday night I'm hitting up Miranda Lambert with my man (he loves her too) and on Sunday I'm going to the Kelly Clarkson show with a couple of my old college roomies - can't wait to FINALLY get our concert on, it's been a long few weeks with no good music in town!

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tickets

I feel like a total dork saying this - only because this is a band from my dad's era - but my boyfriend got me Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tickets and I am SO PUMPED! I think that Tom Petty is classic - whether you're 5 or 50, you can really groove to his music. I mean, I remember jamming to "American Girl" back when I was getting ready for high school in the morning. I seriously can't wait you guys! They'll be at the 1stBank Center for two shows - April 18th and April 19th (a Wednesday and Thursday), and it's going to be the perfect first post-winter concert of the year. So awesome!

Venue Time: The Denver Paramount

I love the Denver Paramount Theater for concerts. Why, you ask? Let me count the ways. I love the vintage, glamorous art-deco feel. The red seats, gold walls and chandaliers make you feel like you're sitting in vintage Hollywood. I always dress up just a little more when I'm catching a show here -  you know, some extra glam to pay homage to the Paramount's roots. It was built in the early 1900s and designed by Temple Buell, and was the premiere social hot spot of it's era. Generally parking comes with your ticket, which is a super bonus. Basically, it's a classy venue to catch a speaker or a great concert. You'll always have crisp sound and feel like you're thrown back to a different era.

Lady Antebellum Makes Me Swoon.

Geez guys, what's up with all of these triple-date-shows? Last week we had Widespread Panic playing three nights in a row, this week it's Phil Lesh. A little overboard, no, guys? Anyway, if you're not into the whole triple Phil Lesh shows this week, then you should DEFINITELY go check out the Lady Antebellum show this Wednesday at the Pepsi Center. Whether you're a country fan or a pop fan (or even an adult alternative fan...), you'll have a blast at this show. I saw them a couple of years ago with Martina McBride and they are awesome. Plus they have so many crossover songs that I just can't get out of my head. Lovelovelove them. And you should too!

Places I Love To See A Show: The Ogden Theatre

There's not a whole lot of concerty things going on around town this week (unless you're up for two whole nights of Widespread Panic at the Fillmore, while I'm not...), so I thought I'd feature one of my favorite venues for concerts around town, the Ogden Theater. Why I like this place:

1. It's charming and it's got character because it was built forever ago.
2. It's an intimate venue but you don't feel like you're standing next to a speaker the entire time you're there.
3. Drinks are decent priced, which is great when you're already  paying for a ticket to get in the door.
4. They get GREAT acts - from local bands to hot touring bands.

The only things that can be (kind of) irritating about seeing a show here:

1. Parking sucks.
2. It can get unbelievably hot in there. But just wear a tank top to compensate, then you don't notice!
